NGT Shifts Environmental Compliance Monitoring to State Mechanism in Uttar Pradesh

In a significant development, the National Green Tribunal (NGT) has issued a directive for the dissolution of the Oversight Committee appointed by the Tribunal and the transfer of its responsibilities to the three-tier monitoring mechanism established by the State of Uttar Pradesh (UP). The order was pronounced on November 10, 2023, by a bench comprising Justice Prakash Shrivastava, Chairperson; Justice Sudhir Agarwal, Judicial Member; Justice Arun Kumar Tyagi, Judicial Member; and Dr. A. Senthil Vel, Expert Member.
