Who gets Green Light, who gets Red, Orange?
The Expert Appraisal Committee (EAC) of Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change for appraisal of Industrial Sector-1 Projects has released its MoM held from 2nd to 4th January 2024. Rajive Kumar, IFS (Retd.) is Chairman of the EAC and Dr. R. B. Lal, Scientist ‘F’ of the Ministry is the Member Secretary.
The EAC approved proposal of Kamya Industries Private Limited for 57,600 TPA Asbestos Cement Sheets and 14,400 TPA Non-Asbestos Cement Sheets manufacturing unit in Vedadri Village, Jaggaipet Mandal, NTR District, Andhra Pradesh. The Krishna River stated to be at a mere distance of 0.9 km in SW direction of the project. The makeup water requirement has been declared as 96 kiloliter/day (KLD). The company claims that there will be no industrial effluent discharge outside the project is proposed. However, it is unclear if there will be any effluent discharge inside the project premises? If so, what’s the impact of that on soil, and water environment.
