EIA | EAC's Decision on Harish Clays' Dump Height: Bold Move or Cause for Concern?
Are India's Recent Mining Project Amendments a Necessary Boost or a Threat to Environmental Harmony?

The Expert Appraisal Committee (EAC) of the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change, responsible for evaluating non-coal mining projects, has granted permission to Harish Clays to increase the dump height to 60 meters, a significant elevation from the previous limit of 8 meters. This modification to the environmental clearance (EC) dated 17th July 2018 is associated with Harish Clays' plan to boost production capacity more than fourfold, from 60,000 TPA to 2,50,000 TPA (ROM) of Clay, within a mining lease area of 284.20 ha in Guda Village, Kolayat Tehsil, Bikaner District, Rajasthan.
